Before and Afters

It's only Wednesday, and already we're well on our way to an organized basement.
Here's the family room BEFORE:

The rocking horse is driving Mom crazy, because there's not a place for it. However, when we finish a room for the older boys, there will be LOTS of room in Dillon's cowboy room for the horse...after we paint it, of course.

Storage room BEFORE:

The storage room is now packed to the gills on every wall, but the floor is empty. Hopefully we can keep it that way through all the remodeling. Unfortunately, there's still a lot of stuff that has to "live" in here while we are finishing the bed and bath. Someday, we'll have a shed out back, and this room will be for food storage, and the spare bedroom.

Storage room AFTER:

Todd's stuff AFTER:

You men would have gotten a kick out of us organizing this stuff. It went something like this:

Me: "do you know what this thingamabobber is?"

Mom: "hmm. nope. let's add it to the un-identified objects box."

Me: "does this look more 'electrical' or 'plumbing-ish'? Oh good, we'll stick it here."

Mom: "does this bit look more 'drill-ish' or 'screw-drivery'?" or "This looks important...where should it live?"

We didn't get a good BEFORE shot of this room, but here is the AFTER (for now). Mom did most of this one by herself while I took a nap...bless her heart. This is the room we'll be finishing for the boys. Just imagine the floor covered (and I mean covered) with random pieces of 2x4's, lathe, laminate flooring, trim, moulding, etc. Also, all the saws are in here, and a work table, and the sheetrock for the bathroom, and the top bunk and mattress that goes with Dillon's wagon-wheel bed, and several sets of closet doors that came with the house. It'll probably take another day of work before we can actually start the framing, but we need muscles for that, and Todd is busy with his team of 15 teenage girls right now... heaven help him.

Very nice! Things are looking good. I had to laugh at the comments about Todd's tools. Too funny!

Wow looks like you guys had a lot of work! It looks great. Good luck with the sheetrocking. That with the mud and taping is not fun to me. I was helping put sheetrock in our storage room the day I went into have Jacob...thank goodness it's finished and I don't have to do that with this one!
